It is officially Autumn!
*and at the end of my hellos, I’ve embedded, for you, a poem!
Well wishes to your fall season, beautiful sorcerers and witches and toads! All connecting with each other through electronic sparks running around the planet, illuminating screens.
I imagine a little pixie with a hat, a la Robin Hood, snatching my letter here from the screen once I hit Publish, rolling it up, tucking it under his arm, and dashing around the globe to splash it onto yours!
Splish, splash… how ‘bout that.
I have a bit of fairy on the mind, for I am vying for a character gig at Austin City Limits as a bubble-making fairy for the Gin Hendricks events next month.
They need a photo of me looking the part, which–believe it or not–I do not have at all. Turns out all the photos I have of me are either deeply drama-tic, dripping sex-pot, or totes silly. Got nothing bubbly or light with dresses up in the vaults.
I explained that I am more of an actual fairy than have ever played one… but that I’ll bring it and totally kill this role. If you know me, you know!
Alas, while the pirate who is bringing me aboard knows me, the employers do not, and those verbal assurances don’t really do much as a resumé. Gotta deliver sumthin!
So, after the mail pixie delivers my words to you, I will be dashing off to whip up some fairy evidence!
Yesterday was the Autumn Equinox! The day in the year when the sun shares the same amount of stage time as the moon. A solid 12 hours for each lover!
Did you do anything to mark the changing of seasons? Tell us about it in the comments!
Alan and I had our first fire in our backyard. We burned a lot of his old documents and said goodbye to summer. I started a new adulting job this week, and next week he starts his! After a June of packing, a July of searching for a town to live in, an August of moving, and a September of settling in… it does indeed feel like it’s time for a new season to begin.
And now, a poem!
Embers Rising
If fire could speak
I think it would sing
lullaby discos
while warm juice gizzards
running down spines
tackle ominously
on top of joy
divide
Aloha nui loa,
Julia
Yes, seasons changing is a beautiful thing. And it holds so much symbolism. I trust you can convince all the right people about your fairy qualities, and I hope the new seasons bring a lot of happiness and love to your new home.
The poem is amazing. I also loved the reading!
You are a beautiful soul. Love the things you write and share.
