There’s a hot, frustrated buzz going around this week around instagram’s recent algorithmic changes and how their choices have increasingly destroyed the initial charms of the platform that got us all involved in the first place.
Gosh, what out there isn’t all ads, short videos, and sexy strangers who are actually brands?
SUBSTACK, BB!
I regret not having a place I enjoy to conveniently share my image-art anymore (instagram didn’t have shyt on tumblr, anyway). However, I do LOVE coming here to engage with you all. Substack is such a diverse, freeing, and supportive platform.
It is such a gift to share this space with long-time heroes like Chuck Palahniuk, Jeanette Winterson, and Patti Smith while also discovering accessible journalists, experts, philosophers, resources, and poets! I even found a humorous, spiritual, poetic country woman who takes clowning classes and discusses the history and healing powers of clown!
Talk about niche…
Safe to say, I am utterly thrilled to have a place to deepen connections with folks about the things that really matter to us. I only hope I can attract more of my friends and peers over here, because having to log on to iG to hunt down evidence of how the babies are doing cannot stand!
How are you enjoying substack? Where else are you finding online content that delights and inspires you? Are you publishing your work, art, knowledge, or life archives somewhere else? Distributing it to loved ones in another way? Let us know in the comments, we’d love to see how you’re getting along in this ever-changing world wide web!

Yes, substack is indeed a fun place for community. Not just all the wonderful newsletters, but I do like their weekly office hours, too.
I update my website with recent work, but not really a community hub like IG for shares, likes, and comments.
