Why hello, dear reader!
A red currant candle burns pointedly to my right, beside a bowl of Saturday morning oatmeal full of nutritious goodies, a cup o coffee, and a tall glass of agua in my very favorite glass, which woke me up this morning with a loud clink! when I knocked it over. There I was, sleepily tossing and turning (apparently this is a trait one can mark genetically, moving in one’s sleep, that is, so my 23andMe DNA stalkers tell me), when I felt the tall, thin, straight glass (my god, is my glass preference cis?!) brush against my naked wrist and heard my sweet cup shout as it hit the bare tile below my bed.
I listened to the scratching of her dear vintage design roll across the floor in fretful agony. Scrambling, fearing she broke, I switched on the lights and found my sweet beast still completely intact under the dresser! Blessed be this day of near disaster!
Do you have a favorite cup? A good cup and a good water bottle are the keys to hydration, IMO. The vessel! Oh, how it matters! With the right vessel, I can drink heaps more. If my cup is heavy, thick-lipped, and big in my hand, it is doubtful I’ll keep picking it up to empty or refill, and with such a drag on my drinking experience, I certainly won’t ever reach my full hydrated potential.
A good vessel calls to mind the astrological sign of Aquarius. The symbol for Aquarius is the water-bearer, and contemplations around our dear astrological servant are oft to do with the vessel in which we direct our spirit. You likely have heard that we are in the “Age of Aquarius,” which is a 2,147.5-year span. There is some debate as to when exactly it began or begins, but safe to say it is recent, now, or soon. Give or take some hundred years.
The water-bearer calls to mind the significance of the technology with which we deliver that which gives life.
There are various ways one could take this; what is technology to you, and what gives life? Regardless of your take, which I would love to hear about in the comments, I think the example of my favorite cup and how critical it is for me to achieve my hydration goals with ease and joy is a perfect metaphor for how vital the thought we put into choosing our technology can be.
I challenge you this week to notice what technology serves you best for your goals to create and sustain a life worth living.
Society spends an awful amount of time griping about how technology might be getting in the way of our humanity or stunting our intelligence. Let us take a breath to guide our attention to how technology might improve our health, nourish our spirit, nurture community, bring mindful play into our days, and elevate our lives.
Aloha nui loa,

I just bought a new pack of my currently preferred pen, the Pilot G-2 size 07. It's only currently the favorite because I still have issues with the slow drying ink and have always wondered how an expensive pen might serve me. However, I also find the popularity of the Pilot G-2's appealing. They have fast delivery when ordered online and you can even find them at most grocery stores. The G-2 works for me and if I should run out of ink or misplace the pen it is easily replaced. It's familiar and unprecious, yet still preferred. Now that I consider it, I don't know what else I have that relationship with.
