Why, hello there, my lovelies!
Three more months, and it’ll have been a full year of my sending these little newsletters to you!
During the first three quarters of our publication’s first year, I have offered you a range of content from poems, to personal narrative essays, life updates, tutorials, recipes, book reviews, clown info, this and that, and the other!
Now that we are entering our final quarter… I must needs know what content you have most appreciated! & What did you skim and decide not to consume?
I am proud for keeping my weekly newsletters consistent, although the day of release has wiggled we haven’t missed a single one! While so far I’ve enjoyed offering a range of variety, I feel a bit unsure about how I’d like to move forward.
I have been choosing what to write up for you based solely on what I’d like to write, whichever day I sit down to do it. However, I dream of actively collaborating with you to create pieces that engage you best. I need the inspiration of community, really. The lack of response paired with the high e-mail opening rate we’ve accomplished has me feeling a bit isolated in all of this.
But, I see you. I know you’re out there reading this and I do deeply appreciate it.
Alls to say, this is a place for US, not for me, and I very much hope to garner your opinions. If your opinion is “Move forward with the range of writing!” that is absolutely valid and I’d love to hear it, too.
Other possible answers may be:
“My favorite bit of your writing this year was _________.”
“I’d love a deeper dive into your thoughts on _____________.”
“Veering away from newsletters with __________ would draw me into more of them.”
“Workout and meditation videos would be cool.”
“More photos.”
“Focus on clown.”
“I’d like to read stories about your experiences doing/creating/taking xyz.”
“Show us paintings and doodles.”
“Share with us your fave music and podcasts and movies.”
“Research papers on things you like sound neat.”
“Show us all the depths of your bleeding heart.”
“Only poetry and fuck all else.”
“Whatever you write give it to us on a Tuesday, damnit.”
If you don’t feel comfortable leaving a comment, which I do urge you to do, feel free to e-mail me your thoughts at julia@juliafae.com.
Aloha nui loa,
Julia
Focus on clowning! I love Olivia!
Hi Julia, great that you are asking your readers. Smart move. Although I'm not sure you will get the answer you are looking for. Or maybe that will be the answer.
For me, I have a big preference for poetry. So, if I find that in your newsletter, I am more likely to read and engage. However, some of your other stuff is also very interesting, and I find myself reading that in bits and pieces.
What always helps me is finding a certain drumbeat. Maybe you can alternate regularly. Let's say clowning, personal essay, poem, personal essay. Repeat. Just a suggestion to work with.
Good luck. Looking forward to more (especially poetry).
