Wow!! The juice isn’t in doing away with boredom and falling into unconscious self entertainment really hit me. It seems like a potent practice that’s committed to authenticity and awareness. Even realizing that neutral mask is indeed a mask as opposed to the real thing has a liberating and confronting call to deeper diving. Often the masks are so automatic and conditioned that they would most definitely be missed within the self otherwise.

Yesss yes yes thank you for that mirror. There is always a unique shape to us, indeed... #noneutral ;) I am so glad that, too, feels liberating for you!

Fascinating stuff Julia. We all know the difficulty of being aware of the masks we wear.

Thanks, Weston! I am curious what you mean. How I perceive the use of mask is not to hide but to reveal. I'd love to hear more about the difficulty you experience.

My point of view is strictly male and I'm 64 years old, so I was raised in an environment of violence, to not complain ever, to expect to work forever and to avoid emotion and introspection. These were viewed as weaknesses. The world of construction was hyper male, filled with physical pain and suffering, so many sociopaths in that industry. This was the world that shaped me until I met my wife. Through her I began to realize, these past forty years how to live differently. This may not be a decent answer but at least it's informative.

Ah, interesting. So the masks your used to, and have spent a lifetime working to shed with your mate, were engineered to suppress. Sounds like where that mask pushed up against you also showed you who you really are. Not a sociopath, not someone comfortable in the expression the world of construction supposed. Masks offer such authentic windows into ourselves and who we really are.
