oh yeah! Jeff Beck. He's been in my top 5 guitarists since the 60s. (yeah, I am a grandpa). I like his new work with Johnny Depp. But I hearken back to the Jeff Beck Group Rough & Ready album as my fave.
His ability to change and grow with his sound over the years is so amazing. Haven't delved into the 2022 Depp collab but super looking forward to it. Who are your other top 4 guitarists? Seen any of them live?
other guitarists who I love and have seen are Monte Montgomery is popular in the singer songwriter small club scene. Also Phil Keaggy lead guitarist with early 70's power trio Glass Harp, but does mostly solo work. a lot of his stuff is religious though a ton of his work is instrumental. The current best fave and you must check her music out (can find it on youtube) is Lari Basillio. she is fantastic.
Starting with Basillo and wow, thank you. An excellent way to start the day. I just saw HAIM live and am on a kick with female rockers. HAIM is very pop in their recordings but if you get the chance to catch their live stuff, they are a trio of women rockers who kick a lot of ass. Thanks for these recs excited to dive into them all!
Ahhh yay, I am so glad to hear that :) I recently recalled the first poem I really remember writing, it was in elementary school on the back of my Wordly Wise workbook (did you have those too?), about my brother pole vaulting. It was a way for me to experience what looked so freeing as he flew. As an adult, my poetry is usually more about processing something or memorializing something. It is exciting to use it again as a means of experiencing something lovely in imagination-land.

I like HAIM's cover of Fleetwood Mac's OH, WELL
Oh man, good find. Watching a tape of them performing it live at T in the Park right now. Hell yeah.
I had to look up patchouli, but now I'll associate it with orange juice. Got to re-visit my other favorite Jeff Beck albums --> Who Else!
Hahaha you'd know that hippy patchouli smell I'm sure of it! A classic.
This poem was the grounding I needed today
